New to Martha’s Vineyard, the Pedicab, green transport and pedaling for a cure

vineyard pedicabs pedaling for a cureExciting things are happening on the Vineyard this summer, not the least of which is a new company called Vineyard Pedicabs.

Bright yellow, the four bicycle powered open air cabs are impossible to miss. If you need a ride, they materialize in the town of Oak Bluffs ringing their bicycle bells as if the ice cream man has arrived. Judging by the smiles and words of encouragement from the passerby’s, they are already proving to be a welcome addition to the diverse landscape of the Oak Bluffs community.

What better way to get to the beach, or to dinner than in an open air pedicab driven by a friendly driver. The fact that you are not contributing any carbon emissions to the environment is an added bonus. If you can’t find parking in Oak Bluffs, this is a great alternative. Too tired to walk? Perfect solution.

What most people don’t realize is that the pedicabs are not only environmentally friendly transport, these people are here with a purpose.  In a very low key and humble manner, Vineyard Pedicabs is pedaling for a cure. They will donate a portion of their proceeds to the Dana-Farber Institute for Cancer Research. When you take a ride, there is no price on that ride but they accept donations. Donate.

When I first met with the guys from Vineyard Pedicab, John and Will Pasquina, I was struck by their earnestness, and their ideals. Imagine living in a world with no polution, no traffic and no cancer…in their small way these are the issues that they are addressing, and we get to benefit from their initiative.  If we all made an effort, imagine the difference we could make.marketing-001

I can’t wait to take a ride! I also met the guys a few weeks ago – their enthusiasm is infectious and I’m sure this will be a great success!!!

Sorry for the late response! The Vineyard is such a thriving community at all times of the year. We are very lucky to be here, and keeping that at the forefront is the focus of this Blog. Thanks so much for visiting!
